7 Things to Know Before Trying NAD+ Nasal Spray

NAD+ is having a moment. You may have seen it in conversations about longevity, in supplement aisles, or on the menu at an IV clinic. But interest in a molecule and evidence for a particular product are two different things.

If you're considering NAD+ nasal spray, these seven points will help you ask better questions before you begin.

01

NAD+ already has a role in your body

NAD+, short for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a coenzyme involved in energy metabolism and other essential processes in the body. That biology is part of why researchers are interested in it. It does not, on its own, tell us what an NAD+ nasal spray will do for an individual person.

02

The format changes the experience

A nasal spray, an IV drip, an injection, and an oral product each involve a different way of administering a substance. For someone weighing their options, the practical differences may matter: where you use it, how much time it takes, and what the process involves.

Those differences should not be mistaken for proof that one format works better than another. Research on one NAD+ product or delivery method cannot automatically be applied to a nasal spray.

03

The evidence deserves a closer look

You'll find broad claims online about NAD+ and energy, recovery, mental clarity, and aging. Ask a more specific question: was that outcome demonstrated in people using this type of NAD+ nasal spray?

NAD+ research is developing, but its established role in the body is not the same as a demonstrated clinical benefit from taking it intranasally. Be cautious with any promise of a particular result or timeline.

04

A compounded prescription is different from an off-the-shelf supplement

Vivo's NAD+ Nasal Spray is a compounded prescription product. If a licensed provider determines that it is appropriate and prescribes it, the medication is prepared by VialsRX, a licensed U.S. 503A compounding pharmacy.

“Compounded” does not mean “FDA-approved.” The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. Compounding can address a patient's particular medical need, but it also makes the prescribing decision and the pharmacy's practices important questions to understand.

05

The intake is a clinical step, not a checkout formality

At Vivo, you complete an intake for a licensed provider with Arora Health & Aesthetics, LLC to review. Your health history, current medications, and questions help that provider decide whether prescribing is appropriate. Not every intake results in a prescription.

If you are considering NAD+ nasal spray, tell the provider what you hope to address. That conversation can help distinguish a realistic expectation from a claim you may have encountered online.

06

Follow the instructions for your prescription

Nasal sprays can differ in concentration, bottle size, and prescribed directions. Don't assume that a dose mentioned in an ad, a video, or someone else's routine applies to your bottle.

Read the pharmacy label and the instructions you receive. If anything is unclear, including how to use or store the spray, ask your provider or pharmacist before using it.

07

Know the full process before you start

Find out who reviews your intake, which pharmacy prepares the medication, what you will pay for the first fill and later fills, and how to get help if you have a question after delivery. Clear answers are part of making an informed decision.

At Vivo, the process begins with provider review. If prescribed, your NAD+ Nasal Spray is prepared by VialsRX and shipped to your door. Questions after delivery go to care@vivoclinic.org.
